The risks
Where your site is exposed
This is the walk we do on the survey, and what we look at when we get there.
- 01
Your yard and fence line
A long boundary is hard to watch after dark, and a loaded trailer left in the yard overnight is the easiest thing on your site to take.
- 02
Your vehicle gate
You need every vehicle logged in and out without a queue building at the barrier or drivers climbing out of cabs to be let in.
- 03
Loading bays and stock cages
Bay doors and high-value cages should only open for the people who need them, and you should be able to show afterwards who went in and when.
- 04
Production and plant areas
Tool stores, plant rooms and production floors need their own access levels, and the cameras in them have to cope with dust, vibration and shift patterns.
- 05
Drivers and couriers
A driver collecting paperwork shouldn't have to walk into your building to get it.
Security solutions
Security solutions we offer
From your fence line to goods-in. We walk the site first, then put the specification in writing.
-
Electronic CCTV ANPR on your vehicle gate to log every plate, thermal cameras to hold the fence line and yard in the dark, and PTZ cameras to follow anything crossing open ground. Luxriot or HikCentral so you watch one site, or all of them, from the same screen. IP · ANPR · Thermal Learn more
-
Electronic Access control and door entry Card and fob readers on staff doors, loading bays and high-value cages, with intercoms at the gate and reception so your team can let a driver in without walking out to them. Readers · Intercoms Learn more
-
Physical Transfer units and hatches A hatch at goods-in and the transport office, so paperwork and small items pass through the wall and your door stays shut. Trays · Hatches · EBTU Learn more
-
Physical Gates, fencing and railings Palisade and mesh fencing and vehicle and pedestrian gates, made in our Edenbridge workshop and set up manual, access-controlled or motorised to suit how your gate actually gets used. LPS 1175 · Palisade · Mesh Learn more
-
Electronic Maintenance contracts An annual contract, so a dead reader on a loading bay or a camera down on the fence line gets fixed rather than added to your list. Annual contracts Learn more
-
Physical Fabrication and welding Bollards, barriers, cages and racking protection made to fit your building, along with the one-off steelwork a working site always ends up needing. MIG · TIG · Powder coat Learn more
Standards and guidance
The rules that apply
- Guidance
TAPA Facility Security Requirements
The Transported Asset Protection Association's FSR standard sets out security measures for logistics facilities. If your site is audited against it, tell us at the survey so the specification reflects it.
Read the guidance - Standard
Insurer requirements
Insurers often set minimum security standards for stock and premises. Bring your policy wording to the survey and we can plan around it.
- Guidance
ICO guidance on CCTV and video surveillance
Number plates and footage of people are personal data. The ICO covers signage, how long to keep footage and handling requests to see it.

FAQs
What warehouse and logistics managers ask
Something not covered here? Ring us and ask.
01732 926 352Can cameras read number plates at our gate?
Yes. ANPR cameras at vehicle gates read and log number plates, giving you a record of every vehicle in and out of the site.
How do you cover a yard or fence line at night?
Thermal cameras detect people and vehicles by heat, so they work in darkness and across large open areas. We usually pair them with fixed or PTZ cameras that can identify what they pick up.
Can we view several sites from one place?
Yes. Luxriot and HikCentral are built for multi-site systems, so you can view and manage cameras across all your sites from one desktop or mobile app.
Do you make the fencing and gates yourselves?
Yes. Gates, railings and fencing are fabricated in our Edenbridge workshop, so they're made to fit your site.
Can you upgrade our existing CCTV?
Yes. We upgrade analogue systems to IP and can add to or replace existing cameras. We'll check what's worth keeping when we survey the site.
Why MerFen
One firm makes it, fits it and keeps it working
Most installers fit what a manufacturer sells them. We make the physical side ourselves, so the specification starts with the site.
